Eclipsekit scented the air, shifting her paws awkwardly under her small paws. The smell of wood and tainted water touched her nose, and she briefly took in a large breathe of the crisp morning air. Her pelt was tingling with excitement as she anticipated the coming moment, when she would finally work up enough guts to enter the leaders den to confront him and ask her question. But first, she had to plan what to say, and it was bugging and nudging her until she couldn't stand it and just threw a jumble of mixed feelings and words together.
Rustling the leaves under foot slightly, she rose to her feet and stretched her tightened limbs, starch and tired. She tossed her head to the side restlessly, glancing across the camp before pushing through the thick curtain of lichen, ragged with age, and into the den.
She coughed faintly at the smell of musk and clumps of moss lined the dark dirt roof. The sandy floor felt cool under her paw pads, and she shivered as a breeze ruffled her fur. She quietly tucked her tail tightly beside her cold, ridgid fur. Her blue eyes stared into the gloom, and with a scuffling of her paws against the loose footing, she called out," Hello? Granite? I have a question!"

Granite lifted his head from the prey he was eaiting, swiping his tongue across his lips. Eyeing the little cat, he steped out of the shadows of his den and into the bright rays of sunshine the were boucnung off random waves of water.
"Way ahead of you Eclipsekit, and yes. I'll have it soon." Granite growled playfully, batting the kit's ears. "But, do you have someone in midn you want as a mentor? As far as I know... I haven't got anything better to do" Granite added.
[[sorry, rushed]

Eclipsekit pricked her ears eagerly and called out, "Well, like every cat wishes, I would want the clan leader to train me!" She glanced up expectantly to look into his eyes, a deep purr rumble her throat. Hopefully, she thought, he will be my mentor! It would be wonderful to know the stuff that he does!
She snapped her head around, shaking the dust from her shoulders as a faint scattering noise around the entrance. This was a chance to prove herself! " See!" she mewed in anticipation, " I can hunt!" She dropped down uneasily, rocking her haunches side to side. She hadn't been taught the proper moves yet, so when she leaped forward, the sand flicked, and the rodent skittered toward the entrance. Only when she pulled out her claws was she able to reel in the bait with a lash of a paw. "Shee?" Eclipse mumbled through the mouthful of vole. She stalked over to Granite and dropped it beside his paws, looking up proudly.
