Redheart and Spiritpaw were walking to the Old Thunderpath. Redheart asked, "Spiritpaw, What can you scent?"

Spiritpaw lifted his snout to the sky, his claws sheathing and unsheathing in the soil. The faint smell of monsters stirred in his nostrils and he wrinkled up his muzzle in disgust. " It smells horrible. I'd say that scent would be the thunderpath." He lifted his head again, concentration straining the colour from his silver sheening eyes. With a deep intake of breath, and a mumble under his words. The overpowering scent of monsters, even though stale, shielded almost all the scents.
Shifting uncomfortably under his pelt, which suddenly felt heavy on his muscled body. "And hints of twolegs, and other cats. Also, a stale stink of fox. I'd say about four days ago it was around here." Spiritpaw sighed caustiously, and glanced over at Redheart. " Is this the border to another clan?" He meowed in his gruff meow, a tint of questioning in it.

"Yes, EnergyClan," Redheart meowed, amazed that Spiritpaw could already scent the Thunderpath and identify it.

Spiritpaw nodded, glad that he had smelled correctly even though he was new to the apprentice work. He shook his pelt roughly, the long areas at his chest, back of legs, and tail bouncing in the cool breeze of spring. He blinked his silver eyes repeatedly at Redheart then turned to wind his way down a narrow path on the border." Now what?" he meowed with a sneeze of anticipitation.

Spiritpaw nodded and stalked down the path, giving nervous glances around the area, as if a monster would leap at him out of nowwhere. His dark black nose sniffed the air and his pelt rippled with muscle. " So..." He began, tilting his head to the side and fumbling his paws in the dried leaves that lined the forest floor. " What do I have to do first?"

"Well first of all, you have to be really quiet. Then you stalk up really carefully, so it feels like your not even moving. Then you leap!" Redheart meowed.

Spiritpaw gave a pressed growl, lifting his rear in the air and creeping forward, leaves crackling under his paws. He crouched, wagging his tail like a flag then leaped through a bush, giving a yowl of surprise as he tumbled out covered with thorns. Shaking most of them off, and tugging at the ones inbetween his paws he grumbled," I guess I need more practice!" A hint of laughter fluttered in his meow.

"Yes, but later. I scent AirClan cats!" Redheart meowed.
///those are the AirClan warriors that were sent to find Redheart, Firestorm, and Phoenixstar for Yellowfield's kitting///

The trees farther down the path began to rustle, and the wind carried him scent of his brother. Scorchingpaw! He thought angerly, clawing into the small grass patch under his paws, tearing up clumps of green.. What is he doing here! This is my turf! Giving a angry snarl, he positioned himself for battle, front legs and back tensed and ready to leap. His whiskers twitched as he anticipated the following moment.

"Stay back, maybe they want something, or maybe theyknow of what happened to Yellowfield," Redheart said. "She was soon going to have her kits, it's not like her to go wandering off."
